WHO Raises Pandemic Alert Level
The World Health Organization on Monday raised its pandemic alert level in response to the outbreak of swine flu that originated in Mexico.
The move from level three to level four on the WHO's six-level threat scale means the world body has determined the virus is capable of significant human-to-human transmission -- a major step toward a flu pandemic, said Dr. Keiji Fukuda, the agency's assistant director-general.

International Economic Group Endorses DRI Certifications The Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) published the APEC Guide to Information Security Skills Certification Booklet endorsing all three levels of DRI Professional Certification. In developing the section on business continuity, APEC mapped the Professional Practices for the Business Continuity Practitioners with ISO 17799 Security Tasks (revised to ISO 27001) and FIPS 200 Minimum Security Requirement.
